We talked about the types of simple machines, how they work and what they can be used for. We thought about places we see these machines in real life.
Nash knew that wheels and axels can be found in cars.
Reuben knew we use wedges to hold a door open or closed.
Then we had some discovery time using different experiments.
We hammered in pegs and joined blocks of wood together. We used pliers and edges to get blocks out and wood apart again.
Then we also tried making a catapult to launch a fluffy pompon using a lever.
And we built a pulley to lift the teddy bear.
We used cogs to make working gears.
We had an amazing day at MOTAT learning more about simple machines and being able to use our knowledge to make cool machines. Thank you to all our parent helpers. We couldn't go on these trips without you.
