Fractions

Our Rectangles and Squares maths groups have been learning about simple fractions. We are learning to recognise the symbols for these fractions as well as find 1/2 or a 1/4 of a shape or set.

We have learnt that 1/2 means we need to share into 2 equal groups and look at how much is in one of those groups.

We have learnt that 1/4 means we need to share into 4 equal groups and look at how much is in one of those groups. We look at the symbol to know how many groups.

We have used crystals, teddy bears and playdough.

Sunflowers

 This term we are learning about the life cycle of plants. We are growing sunflowers to watch them change and grow.

Last week we talked about what plants need to grow so we collected yoghurt pots, soil, and some water. We planted two seed each.

When we came back after the long weekend, some of our seeds had turned into seedlings. 

We are keeping track of our sunflower experiment in our Sunflower diary. Come and see how much they have grown.

Football Promotion

Today we got to participate in a football training session with Tom from Football Kidz NZ.

We practiced out dribbling while playing Red Light, Green Light.


Tom tried to tick us into moving in Cat and Mouse.

We kept our ball away from the sharks in Shark Attack.
